Interim and fractional technology leadership

I build, fix, and scale healthcare technology organizations.

I step into healthcare technology organizations at the moments that matter most: a turnaround, leadership transition, acquisition, or platform that has to change. I bring calm judgment, hands-on technical fluency, and a bias toward leaving the organization stronger than I found it.

Greater Boston and remote.

Engineer · Operator · Entrepreneur · Army veteran

Technology leadership across both payer and provider healthcare, now shipping production agentic AI in a regulated oncology environment.

How I work

Build. Fix. Scale.

I am most useful when the technology model has to change, not simply be maintained.

Build

Products, platforms, teams, and operating models, taken from early concept to dependable production.

Fix

Legacy architecture, stalled execution, security debt, vendor sprawl, and unclear ownership, untangled.

Scale

One-off heroics turned into repeatable delivery, analytics leaders can trust, and responsible AI.

Selected impact

Technology tied to real operating outcomes.

Regulated healthcare

Agentic AI in production

I ship agentic AI into a regulated, HIPAA-governed oncology environment, with human oversight, governance, observability, and operational support built in. In production today.

Clinical, financial, payer, provider

Healthcare analytics that get used

Decision-grade analytics that leaders act on, spanning care delivery, cost, risk, and the business itself.

Product, engineering, cloud, security

Enterprise capability, without the bureaucracy

Architecture, teams, vendors, and security reset while staying close enough to the work to know when to build, buy, simplify, or stop.

Security and compliance

Meet the bar auditors set

Stand up and sustain the controls behind HIPAA, SOC 2, and HITRUST, so security becomes a durable capability rather than a fire drill.

Transition and turnaround

Stabilize, rebuild, and hand off

Establish a durable operating model and leave the organization more self-sufficient than it was before.

Entrepreneurship

Products that became businesses

Co-founded College Raptor, acquired by Citizens Financial Group in 2022. Earlier, built one of the first products licensed on the Salesforce AppExchange.

How I lead

Mission first.
People always.

High standards and genuine care are not opposites.

I first learned to lead in the Army, commanding a company in support of forces overseas. The lesson held: give capable people clarity, context, trust, and accountability, and they will accomplish difficult things together.

I stay technically engaged because technical fluency sharpens executive judgment. Technology exists to solve business problems, and a good leader should leave the organization stronger and more self-sufficient than they found it.

Background

Engineer, operator, entrepreneur, and veteran.

My path runs through software engineering, product, cloud, security, analytics, and healthcare operations. I have sat in most of the chairs, developer, product manager, consultant, VP of engineering, and CTO. That range helps me quickly identify where product, engineering, and business priorities have fallen out of alignment.

  • Former CTO of Optum Analytics (payer and provider analytics) and Cancer Treatment Centers of America (provider)
  • Software engineer by training, with an M.S. in Computer Science and B.S. in Computer Engineering, Rochester Institute of Technology; MBA, Bentley University
  • Named inventor on four software patents
  • Led security and compliance programs spanning HIPAA, SOC 2, and HITRUST
  • Retired U.S. Army Major and former company commander
